A few weeks ago, I went skating on a vacation and was forced to skate with toepicks and it was the the most embarrasing hour of my life. I'm used to doing toe drags and heel turns on hockey skates. They were not happening on figure skates. I tripped on the picks at least 4 times. Figure skaters rely more on outside edges, while hockey players are more on the inside edge, so the blades are going be designed differently. The transition will be painful and embarrasing, but if you put in the time and dedication, you'll be fine. best of luck to you. The FS boots fit more tightly and come up higher on your calf. The FS blades are flatter and longer, so heel edge turns will be tricky. The toe pick is there. Don't rock to the front of the skate to push off, etc. unless it's intentional. I think you could make the transition without too many problems. It just might take a little time, but you are already used to the feeling of being on ice and such so the only thing is to take the time to get used to the figure skates.
