Well, for starters make sure you don’t pull too tight at your toes, they’ll hurt! Been there, done that.

Anyway, I find that pulling them in then going back, putting your finger under the tight laces and pulling harder so the lace towards to toes pulls tighter. If you can’t get your finger under there then they’re tight enough.

Now, for the ankle, you can just pull the laces really hard to tighten, or wrap around your hands and pull. A warning, it might hurt. Sometimes my hands kill after this, but it works.

When lacing up the boot, wrap around the hooks but keep some tension all the way up until you tie the ends. Just never let the laces go. Believe it or not, but tying your boots right takes practice, and you’ll learn how to do it best for your skating ability.

Tips: The tightest part should be at the inset, aka the ankle. However, you need to be able to bend your ankle to skate.
