Here is David Gilmour peforming Dark Globe, a Syd Barrett solo song. This was a tribute to Syd following his death this year.

Everybody always …
Everybody always insults David because he replaced Syd but he helped Syd out more than any of the other members of the band. I think he felt bad about taking Syd’s place even though it wasn’t his fault, in fact I don’t think it was anybody’s fault, things just happened.

this was problay very hard for david too do he lost a good and loved friend of his he was the only who kept contact with syds family and news about his condition so david is the worlds kindest gentlemen

as you get older …
as you get older you can really appreciate the quality of Syd’s songs and how each one of them makes you feel something. There really is something magical about his tunes. David covers Syd best.

I thought it was ‘brandish’ not ‘tarnish’? Gilmour really does a great job. Its hard for me to listen to anyone cover Syd Barrett (it just sounds fake when they do it) but David does Syd’s songs as himself and thats the honest way.
