Silent But Deadly

Wolf states in her article, “Or else she hears about white people talking about the racism of institutions – such as the police department, or the FBI…” This statement as well as many others serves as the next level of white privilege and that is the ability to see a problem affecting another and rather than being compelled to act, you are compelled to pontificate. The general consensus is that there is an increasing awareness of white privilege however decisive action has not been implemented by enough citizens to rest just yet. Ancis and Szymanski quote a student who makes a brilliant observation which states, “Whites don’t look at it or acknowledge it because deep within our hearts, somewhere – silently we are glad it exists.”
