Im getting a helmet for skatebording. HELP?

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

My brother sytarted to skateboard (hes a teen) and I want to get him a helmet for christmas, since his is bad. Any reccomendations are helpful…. oh, and i wanna get it spraypainted so i guess no design. he has a purple and silver girl skateboard. If you can, any ideas for the spraypainting

Your best bet is to get your bro a gift certificate from a local skate shop. He can pick out the helmet he likes best and one that fits right. Different brands and even different models of the same brand will fit differently.

I prefer Pro-Tec helmets, The B2 or the classic skate are my favorites. Expect to pay around $40-50 for a quality helmet. Multi Impact foam, although a bit more expensive to purchase, allows for greater comfort and the ability to withstand several impacts before the helmet or pads need to be replaced. A single impact helmet (hard foam) will allow for only one impact before the helmet must be replaced.

How long did it take you to learn how to olie on a skateboard?

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

I am a begginer at skatebording and i keep trying and trying to oile. But i never can do it. Just wondering how long it took other skateboarders to learn it.

about a week if you wanna know how to

okay here it goes,
1.get in a comfortable stance and stay balanced put ur back foot on the tail and your front foot an inch behind the bolts
2.then you jump up literaly jump up with BOTH feet
3.right after you start jumping really FAST and HARD pop the tail so tha pop could make it jump
4.once u hear or feel that you popped the board you slide your front foot up to the nose that makes the board get height and make the back wheels get up(wich was one of my problems)
5.once you reach the highest point of your ollie
level out the board with your back foot on the board
6.Once you land on the ground bend your knees to resort the impact of your ollie
7.just keep riding your board and dont fall off
8.P R A C T I C E

Problems:
1.sometimes you pop and your board goes flying forward, solution:thats because ur leaning back too much keep your balance

2.you pop and land but board doesnt go in the air, solution:your not sliding your front foot up.

3.you try to ollie and try to pop and slide your front foot to the nose but wont get to the air, solution:you think your popping but your not push with your back foot harder(wich was also my problem and got it after doing this)

hope i helped. :)

Im just starting skatebording, any tips before i start?

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

Are there any thing i need to know before i start skating?

I recommend wearing a helmet and at least long sleeve clothing.
I’ve seen too many ownage videos where skaters thought it was cool to go helmetless and ended up with cracked heads and concussion.

Play it safe.

Hello im going to buy a new skatebored to you know try something new for the summer but i don’t know how to use it.Can someone please give me tips on skatebording?please!

before you even get on the board for the first time, jump in the air and slam onto the ground a few times until you are used to it, then get on the board, and (most likely) push off and get ready to fall
