Why don’t you call them and ask them, instead of asking us. Because none of us would clearly know. You’re making this more difficult then it has to be lol.

where can i get wholesale skater clothing for a skate shop i want to open?

Monday, September 28th, 2009

I’M GOING TO OPEN A SKATER SHOP ANY NEED TO KNOW OF A WEB SITE I CAN GO TO GET SKATER CLOTHING AT WHOLESALE (RESALE) LIKE FAMOUS.S.A.S, HURLEY, ROXY , ETC.

Depending on your location, if you have a local library you can usually begin by speaking with the librarian, ask about trade associations and those organization’s trade magazines and/or directories.

Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago and Dallas have large Wholesale Marts where various manufacturing companies have representatives with samples of the latest styles for pre-order, though sometimes the minimum orders are very high, you may be able to convince these reps to allow you to get started in smaller quantities and perhaps they would allow you to purchase their sale samples.

Also go on the Internet and give careful thought to some good key words that would apply and use those for search. Be very careful trying to do this strictly on-line, you really need to touch and feel the goods. Find reputable well respected companies, request samples, though these folks get people wanting samples all the time, ask them to bill you if they’d like, show them your serious.

First try to do some flips: kick flip heel flip. next learn some kool street tricks, ok i’ve been sk8ing for a while and i made up weird street tricks but they look kool and i think that helped me. Also you want to be able to ride vert i have a half pipe in my back yard so it helped me. but if you dont just hang out at a local sk8 park on thw weekends.

Hope this helps!!

Interview Follow up call at a skate shop?

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

I had a great interview for a part time position on Friday. Long interview and I left 95% positive that I had the position. I emailed the manager tuesday with a thank you follow up. I have not heard anything.

Shouls I call today for a status call from the assistant manger who I also spoke with during the interview?
Dang, sorry about the spelling

It usually takes employers a few days to decide on who they hire. A good company will take their time (but not too long) in the hiring process just to make sure they get the right person for the right job.
E-mailing them was ok, but if you want to impress the socks off of them to hire you, go back and follow-up with them in person.
I’ve learned that speaking face-to-face to the people who can hire you will make a stronger impression.
The idea is to make them remember you more than the other applicants.

Best skate shop for longboards in Vancouver, BC?

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

I’m moving to Vancouver soon and was wondering what’s the best skate shop around town.

The best general areas for skateshops in Vancouver are probably West 4th street between Burrard and Pine (just southwest of downtown) and Lonsdale Avenue in North Vancouver.
That one block on West 4th is home to about 5 different skate/board shops and some more generic sport shops.
On Lonsdale they are a bit more spread out but there is a Boardroom, an RDS store, and Second Wave/La Nina (La Nina is the girl oriented half of the store)
Skate shops always seem to be popping up and closing down downtown so keep an eye out for them. Last time I checked there was Underworld on Granville street, Circle skate in gastown, and a few that closed down, not sure what new ones have opened up though.
