How do I blend two different deck stain colors into one color?

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Im staining my deck and had to stop part of the way through, when I started the following day I forgot to shake up the can. Now I have part of my deck is one color and another is a little darker. Its not too bad but it is noticable. How can I blend the two colors together? Or even make the darker area alittle closer to the other colors?

get you another can of the same deck stain and shake the can and apply the stain over the lighter one, it sould come out the same color since it is from the same color, if it is a little darker than that darkest side you might try putting on a light coat to the darker one to make them even. otherwise sand and restain the lighter side to match the darker one.

Can someone suggest flowers for my deck that squirrels or rats will not touch?

Monday, October 12th, 2009

I need to plant something in my planters on my deck railings that will be in shade/part sun. I even tryed to plant marigolds and something will clip the blooms from the stems. I really want some color for my deck in the summer months.

I’ve seen so nice Cactus that make a good deck settings. EPIPHYLLUM (ORCHID CACTUS) is a nice plant. Also the following:

ADENIUM OBESUM DESERT ROSE
EUPHORBIA VIGUERI

I hope they fit what you need.

How do I bridge shuffle a deck of cards?

Monday, October 12th, 2009

I have tried countless times, but can never succeed in bridge shuffling. When I’m asked to shuffle decks, I try bridge shuffling, but the cards go everywhere. How can I learn to bridge shuffle a deck of cards without them going everywhere? Any tips?

How do I get my dog not to poop on the deck?

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

My dog didn’t use to have this problem, he always goes to the yard and does his business. But we had a couple of big snow storms and the yard and deck were covered by snow, so he poops and pee on the deck. I guess he couldn’t distinguish between the yard and the deck. But now the snow are melted he still do it on the deck. How can I get him not to? Thanks!

Tell him its not a "poop deck" – hehe Just kidding

Ok – you will have to walk outside with him a few times and "remind" him to go in the yard. Keep him away from the deck until he does his business in the yard. Before long he will get back in the habit of going to the yard and not the deck. My dogs are the same way in the winter – they relieve themselves all over the little walkway we have (and keep shoveled) going from the backdoor of the house to the sunroom attached to the gararge.

How much would a Crystal Beast deck cost and what would it contain?

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

How much would a crystal beast deck cost? What would be in it? Please include a deck list or I will report as irrelevant.

I say below 200$
i used to have one.
it should have x2 of each crystal beast.
and x3 of pegasus(they are very useful)
x2 rainbow or even x3
and definently x3 Hamon-Lord Of Striking Thunder. (since you can tribute 3 continuous spells to special summon it, and since you want a crystal beast deck i bet you know that when crystal beast get destroyed they can go to the spell and trap card zone as continuous spells. )

So yeah i say below 200$

Deck List:

(Monsters 21)
Hamon x3
Rainbow dragon x2
Crystal beast Sapphire Pegasus x3
Crystal beast Ruby Carbuncle x2
Crystal beast Topaz Tiger x2
Crystal beast emerald Tortoise x2
Crystal beast Amber Mammoth x2
Crystal beast Amythest Cat x2
Crystal beast Cobalt Eagle x2
Marshmallon x1

(Spell 17)
Ancient city-Rainbow Ruins x2
Crystal Blessing x3
Crystal Beacon x3
Crystal Abundance x1
Crystal Tree x1
Crystal Release x1
Rare Value x1
Smashing Ground x1
Terraforming x2
Monster Reborn x1

(Traps 5)
Crystal Raigeki x1
Crystal Pair x2
Rainbow Gravity x1
Torrential Tribute x1
Mirror Force x1

(43 total)= Perfect Crystal Beast Deck. But it’s not a guarantee win against top decks like Lightsworns,Gladiator Beast, and or Blackwings.

So don’t expect to always win with Crystal Beast, they arent really that good, yet are preety fun to play with, like i said i used to have one. :D

Well hope i helped.

How much does it cost to build a 10x 12 back deck?

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

Need to know! we need to build a back deck on the house immediately and i’m asking approx what would a very simply made 10 x 12 deck cost? the prior deck was removed by the other owners because it rotted away. and the lsiding glass doord in the kitchen open up to nothing. the tenants are using a ladder to enter and exit through the back and this can’t go on for long. the deck ui have in mind is very simple with 3 or 4 stair and hend railing. thanks!

I’m confused from your description if this is a first or second story deck if it only involves 3-4 stairs but your neighbors are having to use a ladder. If you are building a deck onto a second story, you will have to have a building permit and it will have to built to code and be inspected. The posts will have to be put into concrete footings as well. You’re probably looking at $2000-2500. Unless you’re an experienced carpenter – hire one!

If its on the bottom story, you could do it yourself, but you should check with your local inspectors office about height requirements for decks and building permits. Generally, permits are only required if the deck is above a certain height above ground level. The DIY version might only run you $1500 or so, but do your homework in advance on proper construction.

The last thing you want is to build a half-&%# deck and have someone fall off, get injured or worse, and get sued over it. That will cost you more than doing the deck the right way.

I would like to build a deck 18x 13 on top of the garage roof. Have no knowledge , where do i start?

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

I just bought a condo in brooklyn and initially the owner/builder had a deck in the plan. I live on the second floor and the deck was supposed to be on the roof of the garage which is on the first floor. The proposed size was 18 x 13 and for some reason he was not interested in building that before the closing. Now its upto me what to do with the space. Now the question is where to start and what to and do?

I have a deck on my garage. It’s a 2 car attached, about 25′ x 15". Let me tell you, it’s awesome. If I had a dollar for every time I had a guest tell me they would buy my house just because of the deck on the garage, I’d have quite a few!

The main thing is finding out if the city will let you do it. So, before you do anything, call your local city hall & talk to the building & code department. They’ll give you an answer in 5 seconds.

If they give you a green light, call in a bunch of contractors, maybe 4 or 5 & have them quote the job. Make sure to cover all the specifics like, what will they build it out of (treated wood?) Find out what they would use for the decking (4"? 6"? Pine?), if they are licenced, bonded & insured, etc.

The only thing I would suggest is to make sure they use screws on the decking, not nails. If you have a real low pitch on top of the garage, you’ll get leaves & twigs & stuff stuck under the deck, on the roof. You’ll want to clear that stuff off as often as you clean your gutters… and being able to take the deck up to do the job will make it MUCH easier. So, screws, no nails.

If code will let you do it, make sure you do! I’d say you’ll probably get 3 times your money back on the project when you go to sell. You’ll also receive a bunch of "best party of the year" comments for the life of it!

What is the difference between a deck and a porch?

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

My husband and I are having a disagreement! Help us fix it!

What is the difference between a porch and a deck? Can both be on a house, or are decks only for ships? Thanks!

a porch is at the entry doors to a home…. it’s covered so you don’t have to stand there in the rain fiddling with your keys to get inside….some porches have no roof, are still at the door and I’ll never understand why…..call them stoops….

decks are not roofed over unless there’s a pergola on the deck, too…., are usually more for fun and family gathering than just an entrance to the house…. keep the BBQ there, lounge chairs, hot tub, etc….
