What kind of skate shoes are better and cheap (under $70)- Emerica, Etnie, ZooYork, or DC?

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

remember—> good for skateboarding (that means the grip tape won’t scratch and tear it off easily like my old YZ shoes), and cheap… ty for your help
my YooZork shoes are scratched on the side b/c of ollying and kickflipping, it’s causing a hole…
plz tell me what kind of shoes are strong against the griptape… TY

Ok, here’s the deal. All of these brands are great… However, it’s not the brand that counts… It’s the material where the shoe comes into contact the most. If you are regular footed, the part where the shoe comes into contact the most with the board is the front part of the shoe, right next to the pinkie toe. I have a pair of DC’s that I got for around 70 dollars that had a suede-like material around the pinkie toe area, and they are still in great condition for having them for like 5 months while skating. Also, leather shoes are great cuz’ they don’t wear down either. I think Zoo York and DC would be the best if you want something that won’t wear down. Possibly even Emerica…It all depends on the shoe material. Hope that helped, and remember to choose me for best answer :D

Skateboard park / shop / lessons in IL, near Montgomery?

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

My 5 year old son really wants to get into skateboarding so I want to take him to a skateboard shop and pick out a board. I already got good advice on what to get him but now I need to find a place that will give him lessons too. And possibly a place to practice, but everything I have found so far is pretty far from Montgomery. Some nearby towns are Oswego, Naperville, Aurora, & Plano. Can anyone direct me to something nearby us?

if you have a drive way that would be the best place for him to start skating and just get him a dvd to watch and help both of you out to learn some tricks.

What is the probability of picking three kings out of a deck?

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

Three cards are drawn from a standard deck. Each card standard deck. Each card is placed back in the deck after it is drawn, and the deck is shuffled completely each time. What is the probability that all three cards are kings?

there is a 1/13 chance of it. That is only if there is no jokers

What is effect of Thermocouple performance by element length and wire diameter?

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

There are two thermocouple "K" type Cr-Al junction. One of them have wire Diameter 1.5 sq mm and other of 2.5 Sq mm. Even the length of the element is 400 mm and other 425.

Neither the wire length nor the wire diameter have any effect on performance. The meter measures emf, which is not affected by either of these.

What DOES affect performance is purity of the wire. If some other substance is present in, say, the chromel, then it acts as a thermocouple itself, giving an error. The critical part of the wire is the part subjected to the thermal gradient.

The emf is not generated in th ejunction, but rather in the thermal gradient area of the wire. The junction simply serves to connect the two wires together electrically.

Which skate shop is this in Avalon, Catalina, CA?

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

We were in Avalon on Catalina Island, CA, and we came across a skate shop on the main street by the water that had some art in the windows – little birds made out of wood with straight wire legs (I think that’s what they were anyway). I’ve tried searching the internet for the name of the store, but I can’t find it anywhere. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks in advance!

What are some vegetarian tips, tricks, techniques, and crafty ideas you might have in the kitchen?

Try not using tomato sauce for everything for flavor & experience with broths & seasonings. Many vegetarian & vegan broths now come in paper containers and/or cubes. You also can make your own and find many recipes in cookbooks. There are also many seasonings out that are dried and/or fresh.

Where can we get a snow globe repaired that has murky coloured water?

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

I have a snow globe that froze and needs to be repaired because the water turned a yellowish colour, and I need to get it fixed. I looked, but couldn’t find anyplace local that would fix them. I ask because I could send it out and get it fixed, but it would be after Christmas that it came back. I live in Anchorage, Alaska.

Is there a plug on the bottom to drain? I’m pretty sure the solution is glycerin and water. I don’t know how they repair these, but I made one once, and that’s what I used. If there’s no drain plug on the bottom, I imagine you would have to melt a hole, and after it was refilled have a new plastic piece to glue over the hole. It’s going to be that hard, and that easy. I’m thinking a plug like maybe salt shakers have on the bottom.

How do I know what size I am in aggressive skates?

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

I am an 8.5 in womens shoes and I have hockey skates, which are missions, that are a size 9. I am looking to order a pair of Rollerblade aggressive skates. I am ordering my skates online and I don’t want to order the wrong size. Some websites tell me to order one size and others tell me another thing. Help me please!

I would ask the shop that you will be buying them from. If you rely on advice that they give you, they are required by law to take them back if the advice is wrong. However, you have to be ready to return them in "new" condition.
I would also ask in advance about their return policy and any costs to you if they are wrong.

Most people use skates that are equal or smaller than their shoe size but it depends on the shape of your foot. If your feet are wider than they planned for, you may need a larger size.

You want them to feel snug all around your foot without crushing your toes. If they are not snug, they will move around while grinding or landing and could have bad results.
